Winter is here
It was a lovely cold start to the day, but one that we had mixed feelings about.
Mr T finally had his appointment at the Bristol Eye Hospital (they had sent us to the wrong place last November). We knew his eye sight had got a lot worse and thought that he might be borderline sight impaired. The hospital was very busy and the poor staff were run ragged. He had to do a sight test first, and then had to have dilating eye drops and pictures taken of his eyes, and then saw a consultant ophthalmologist, who said that his eyesight had deteriorated a lot and she said he was now classed as severely sight impaired. From there we had a support lady who came up to talk us through what happens next. She was excellent and will arrange for Mr T to be seen at the low vision clinic, and for a local firm to contact us so we can go and see the aids available. She gave him a badge that he can wear so that people may able to recognise that he can't see as well. The paperwork will be sent to the council to see what help and support is available. It was still a shock even though we knew he was struggling. He has taken it very well even though it was worse than he expected but there will be lots for him to process in the coming days.
