Brunch

I don't make a habit of blipping food as I find it extremely hard to make the photo look as delicious as the real thing but the homemade potato scones are worth their place in my journal.

I slept til 10 and had a quiet morning spinning and weaving until Carlos got up. I couldn't decide what to make for breakfast and we were just chatting away about how well the kids are doing at school (they got letters yesterday about how many merits they've been given for things like work, homework, initiative, leadership, F got 16 and N got 27!) I was saying how pleased I am that Freya has taken subjects she enjoys and although I can't predict what Noah will take, but I'm no longer worried about it. With his hearing impairment and dyslexia I wasn't sure how he would respond to HIgh School, but it really suits him so I'm hugely relieved. He does love cooking and had brought home some delicious biscuits from Home Ec and I commented that he might want to be the next Jamie Oliver... I then had a vision of this recipe in the last Jamie book I bought (the Great British one) and bustled off to the kitchen to create, what is now, Carlos' favourite brunch ever!

We're having a change in the routine at Christmas this year and the children will be spending Christmas Eve at their dad's returning home at mid-day on Christmas Day. They will have rolls and sausage at their dad's early morning and I was struggling to decide what they would need/want at mid-day, out actual dinner won't be til 5 but I think this might be the perfect solution, as long as I make Jamie's epic hot chocolate Freya doesn't care.

I spent the rest of the afternoon designing and making 2 Christmas stockings, I started it about 10 years ago and have made upwards of 150, back then I did craft fairs but now I only do them on request or when babies are born, or new people come into the lives of previous stocking recipients. I've still to sew them up, but the designs are looking good so far.

Had a great night out with Karen at the Tontine Hotel, she had an extra ticket for the Kempock Street Traders Christmas night out so it was a great excuse to get dressed up, eat, drink and dance the night away. She may have been worried I might blip one of the various party hat shots from last night so I'm sure she will be immensely relieved to feast her eyes on the finest homemade potato scone known to man.
