Mt Tarawera..
.. bathed in early evening sunshine. I come out here reasonably often but almost always in the early morning. I had been told that on a fine summers evening it takes on a pinkish tinge as the sun sets. I am very happy I came out to see for myself. A very warm day, although much warmer in many other parts of the country but thankfully not as hot as the recent scorching temperatures in Australia. Mt Tarawera erupted in 1886, causing widespread devastation. The main crater is on the left. The world famous Pink and White Terraces were also lost in the eruption.
