Personal reflection

The brain of a psychologist: we don’t accept simple explanations of human behaviour that a lot of other people might. we are overwhelmed by the complexity of influencing factors, and have to try to use reason to justify ‘the most likely’ reason in any given situation. we tend to overthink, because there is a lot to think about. in a way we are probably more tolerant of ambiguity, and lower in the need for structure, because we understand that for any given behaviour or event there are a multitude of explanations; and that typically not one solution is sufficient. we are critical by nature, yet understanding. we are more prone to experience anxiety/depression/mental health disorders. maybe because sometimes we feel like we are on the outside looking in, at our own lives and the lives of others. we are frustrated that a lot of the problems we run into in the world are because some people lack a deep sense of self-awareness and self-compassion, and we know people operate frequently in a state of defensiveness. And although we seek support and understanding from others, we ultimately exist in a state of bewilderment.
