Hungarian Pulis
That is a guess because I didn't ask the owner. She was setting off for around Spring Lake with these two but not getting very far as somebody stopped her every few feet to ask, "what on earth are they ? how do you comb them? are they friendly? what are their names?"
Just by lurking behind them I was able to ascertain the following answers: You don't comb them, they are fluffy as puppies...the dredlocks just happen. Their owner got two females "because I didn't want them lifting their legs and peeing all over their dreds"They clearly loved attention and their names are Kutut (Balinese name for the Fourth Child), and Ditto because she's from the same litter as Kutut.
We were waiting at Spring Lake for Bruce and Cindy, with their own distinctive pair, Banjo,a Newfoundland and Hank a Basset Hound. As we walked slowly around the lake at a pace that befitted Hank and his short legs and big body, who should we run into but a couple with two Newfies.
In the course of getting caught up on all the neighborhood gossip my camera hung uselessly around my neck but I thought the Pulis definitely qualified for silly Saturday. They were sweet, friendly dogs, but definitely not fun to pat!
Ozzie stayed home for this excursion because we had already walked with him to Dana and Jim's house where we discussed Academy Award nominations over oatmeal and coffee. They have managed to see all the Best Picture nominated films except Vice which we all agreed we didn't really want to see. We have enough trouble with our current Vice without seeing a movie about one who was truly evil. I suppose it is heartening to think how quickly those people fade into obscurity once they are out of office, although I long for the days of the Obamas....
Ozzie would have faded into obscurity too in such unusual and attention grabbing doggy company.
