Phalaenopsis

On a wet and dreary morning, my Facebook timeline was brightened up by some orchid photos in one of the photography groups I belong to. I wasn't minded to go out today, and seeing these shots - which were all taken using selective focus - reminded me that one of my own orchids has just come into flower.

I continue to struggle with selective focus - I like it when other people do it, but I'm never happy with my own attempts. Nevertheless, I'm persisting. My other issue today was the Stygian gloom in which I was trying to focus on a very small element of this flower - but if nothing else, the results of my efforts have brightened up my computer screen for the rest of the day.
