A day in the life

Budspring

I've had nine hours away from home working at Kalmar theatre today. When I got home I was greeted by a new flower, a member of the Phalaenopsis family, an orchid that has been resting since november. Suddenly, beginning of January, new sprouts were sent out and slowly started growing green spotted buds. Sometime today the second bud revealed its flower. I didn't see the first flower emerge either, the plant is a bit secretive that way.

The orchid was given to me as a moving in present by C, my former partner who, perhaps, thought I needed something else to care for now that she wasn't going to be around anymore. Well, we tend to go along fine, my Phalaenopsis and me. She flowers regularly and doesn't crave much. She needs lots of light but no direct sun and to be flushed properly with water once a week. And she's nice to look at too, a bit vulgar perhaps but I can live with that.
