Diary of an Edinburgher

New toy

Bike. Though it was interrupted when a neighbour came by and said she'd buy our unwanted kitchen dresser (she'd had a look at it before). Just in time, as I’d replied to someone that morning to say that it was still available. Got someone to come round and take the (free) bath away. Good start.

Elizabeth took Archie out and so we headed off for lunch in town - to the fish'n'chip restaurant I’d checked out last week. They have a huge menu - not just seafood. It was very busy, but as it's huge, they can accommodate everyone. And it's very reasonable. None of the fancy prices we've had of late. But no room for pudding!

We popped along to see the moon on its last day in St Giles. JR went off down the Mile, so I checked the bus app - 5 minutes to the next bus. Not enough time for me to shuffle to the stop. Then I suddenly decided to go for it. The bus was at the stop sign as I turned the corner. I hurried along as fast as I could. The bus reached the stop. I even passed some slow folk. People were getting off the bus. Good. Only one person got on. Nearly there! As I reached the back of the bus, the doors shut! No!! But then - the doors opened again, the driver had noticed me. I thanked him profusely. And again when I got off.

I watched the womens' tennis final - what a great game!

Archie discovered a great new toy - an empty plastic peanut butter jar. He played with it for ages. Look at that wee tongue.
