Touching The Void

We stepped out this afternoon for the matinee performance of this play. An adaptation by David Greig of Joe Simpson's epic tale. Having read the book, attended talks by both climbers, seen the film, I was well acquainted with the story already. 

I enjoyed the way that Greig incorporated the furniture of the eponymous climber's bar with the progression of a climber from idea to table, to crag, to mountain. The portrayal of the actual story was ok, if a little drawn out. I think they missed a trick by not acknowledging the actual summit event (pretty important for a climber), otherwise it was a good show.
