A sticky bun.
In 1975 a bakery and cafe opened in Ambleside. I think my family went to it in its first year and we have favoured it for the past 44 years.
During this time we must have eaten a rather large number of one of its speciality products. This is their sticky Bath Bun. Many have been bought and taken home also.
They are quite large. What you see in the photo with my hot chocolate is just half a one, it being shared with Mrs. K.
Forty years ago the cafe visit would have been followed by a walk up Loughrigg or on a fine day a round of the Fairfield Horseshoe. But in todays fine drizzle a visit to a couple of the villages large number of outdoor clothing stores was more appropriate for our age. Some very good bargains were selected in the January sales. Should we feel guilty about the very low wages which must be paid in China to produce quite high quality goods at amazing prices? If we don’t buy them will it put people out of work.?
With the collection of a new supply of Yoghurt making powder too it was a very satisfactory morning.
