Chalking the door

At school today we all had to go outside for this blessing called chalking the door. I'd never heard of it. We stood in the cold and damp whilst the adults sang we three kings! Afterwards and in time everyone has to chalk their name by the front door of school. Hope no one thinks it is graffiti!!
After this we walked to the back of school where there is a lovely basketball all weather court. It was opened by a footballer from Wigan Athletic (he's on loan from Chelsea, I can't remember his name!!)I've just found this then there were official photos which seemed to take ages by which time the cold had set in. Shame it was a horrid, grey, damp foggy day. There was no time for reading although I did see one pupil before the event.
