Typical
The Francisco I, a very classic Spanish bar. This was our lunch venue today, after our first choice was closed and our second was "full" (many empty tables, but they were allegedly all reserved). In fact the Francisco I acts as a kind of backstop: it always seems to be open and the food isn't bad, so it's where you end up if all else fails. A three-course lunch with a glass of wine was 9.90, certainly good value for basic but copious food. The only blemish was the group of Brits at the next table talking about Brexit.
Later we went to the Casa de la Cultura to see The Wife. Sadly the plot was so predictable and corny that I guessed the "twist" even before the opening credits. But I did think the portrayal of the central relationship was well done -- excellent acting from Glenn Close and Jonathan Pryce. From there we moved on to Mas Que Tapas for the intercambio -- another convivial event from which we returned home at midnight.
