a walk in the woods
Today we went to Ashby Lake and had a nice walk on a boardwalk that looped through the woods, across a cove in the lake, and back into the woods again.
Along the way we saw these polypore bracket fungi, which are flat, shelf-like mushrooms that grow on dead trees. I think they look like seashells, but on looking them up online, I learned they are called "false turkey tails." And yes, there are fungi that are called "turkey tails."
