A day of grape and haze
These are the beautiful pinot noir grapes in The Panton Hill Winery in the Yarra Valley. Had some great tastings here, and left with a Sauv Blanc, Shirza and awesome Pinot. Caught up with Teunis and Dorothy again (met them last year) and had a good chat about how close they came to being wiped out by the bush fires.
Earlier in the day we had been at the Evelyn County Estate Winery and had a good few tastings there. Left that place with a pinot noir and beautfiul rose - normally something I wouldn't touch but this place just had something special.
It's great buying wine from a winery - just the way it should be done, especially when the owners are so enthusiastic about their produce, great fun.
Where does the haze come in I hear you ask? Well, the sky here is a mix of bright blue and grey - the grey is the ash from the remaining bush fires which are still raging up near Kinglake. We saw a couple of the helicopters chucking water, but apart from that I'm glad to say we saw no flames.
