Listening With Only One Ear, London
When I saw this I thought it was the perfect metaphor for Brexit. Both of the leaders of the Tories and Labour are only interested in listening to anyone who will agree with them rather than doing what is best for the country and the economy - it makes me despair.
In other news, I finally got my new specs after two weeks of waiting. The frames were not too bad price wise but it's the lenses that are the killer. I need varifocals which, of course, are more expensive than a standard lens. All in all I didn't get much change from £250!
The problem I'm having with all the opticians I've tried is having my other glasses repaired (an arm has come off). Boots was a no (even though I bought them from there!), Vision Express was a no (even though they have a "repair centre" in store in their massive shop on Oxford Street) and Specsavers was also a no (they don't sell my make of frame so cannot possibly fix them!). So I've given up, I'll have to go online and then they wonder why the bloody High Street is dying (just try, just once, just for a day to give good customer service - you never know it might just sodding well work!).
The new glasses are a different prescription so at the moment everything curves rather weirdly at the edge of the lenses - it can give you a bit of a headache until they settle down.
