Super Blood Woolf Moon

Up and at them at 3.30 am! Got dressed warmly with coffee to go and drove to a less light polluted part of the beach. Funnily there was a scattering of people with fancy cameras and tripods on the same mission.
This phenomenon is caused by the earth lining up to shade the moon. "A little bit of sunlight is refracted by the Earth's atmosphere and reaches the Moon, bending around the edges of the Earth," and appears to turn the moon red. It was lovely and worth the outing.
Back home for two hours in bed under two quilts to warm up before work.
