Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos
Hard to spot, but all too easy to hear! There were maybe six of these cockatoos in the pines across the way this evening. I could hear them as soon as I left the house, but it took me a while to spot them feasting on pine cones at the very top of a tree. These are females (or immature birds), having a grey eye-rings. The mature males have red eye-rings—one in extras.
