The OWthodontist and the tree.
Would you believe me if I said the picture of the castle is the view I have from my orthodontist's chair?
It's true!
Although, admittedly, this picture was taken on my walk down to the Grassmarket rather than from the chair itself (tempted though I was), the only difference is that the clinic being a few stories up is more level with the height of the castle.
So the today's orthodontist appointment was to be the follow-up and answer finding appointment to question-filled appointment of last time. It is safe to say that I had run through just about every possible cause and solution to the stubborn tooth in my head the night previous - from surgery to hilarious head-gear! Thankfully the radiologist said there was no obstruction and my orthodontist said we would just have to accept it as one of those things...and he would have to make a special wire to bring the tooth round.
So neither surgery nor headgear was the solution...but pain was still involved! 45 minutes later and I have a new construction of metal in my mouth - a process which (apart from the 10 minutes sitting admiring the castle view while my orthodontist made the wire) triggered various foot-twitching, hand-wringing and face contorting movements from me...ouch! A phone call to mum and a trip to Boots later and the edge had been taken off enough to enjoy a wander through Edinburgh...to include a visit to Jenners and a gaze at their tree (how DO they get it there?!).
Despite the start, the rest of the day was wonderful!! Erin has returned so it was hugs and catch-ups all round :) Then it was time to fulfill my tinsel buying duties in time for the Uniformed Organisations Christmas event at church. Lovely evening and the Rainbows were suitably sweet, well-behaved and not overly phased by the microphones and faces pointed in their direction.
Finally off to the CU Carol Service...an event I look forward to and enjoy every year :) Little bit different this year as, for the first time, I wasn't in the orchestra but in the congregation instead. However, it was still very enjoyable and lovely to have Lorraine with me, too.
Christmas really is just around the corner!
