Around Aldgate East Station

A few years ago this area was, apparently, one to avoid. Huge development has been undertaken, and is still ongoing. My blip from Friday gives an idea of the changing skyline and this morning, we ventured into an area new to us. I love this statue and design, although it was hard to get a photo that showed its true lines.

We wanted to try out a new restaurant for brunch. It sounded promising and turned out to be absolutely splendid. We’ll go back. It’s worth a specific journey. (My Extra is the Shakshouka that I chose. I’m not vegetarian but this was so tasty and perfect).

Our bus ride to Euston was also fascinating. Lots more places to check out!

Last’s night’s opera was interesting. My friends didn’t like it. I did, but I didn’t understand it. Tchaikovsky’s “Queen of Spades”.

In the interval I was queuing for the loo behind three ladies who were speaking Russian. I asked if they were enjoying it. They were, very much. They said the singing and the Russian accents were very good. They told me they knew the opera very well and that this was a very unusual production. They were lovely.

I’m glad I went, and I still don’t understand it. After the brilliant Pinter on Friday night, I’m beginning to get used to not knowing what’s going on.....
