This bunker belongs to the so-called porcupine type, (three loopholes, a firing range of 190 degrees and equipped with 1 light machine-gun)
Bunker 538 got 3 hits from German artillerie and anti-tank artillery on three sides and was also attacked by Stuck Bombers.
The casemate commander Sgt. N. Blokland stood courageously here on 10 May 1940; He was killed that afternoon at 15.00 hour ...
