Sparrow
Thursday
The weather forecast calls for the next three days being largely wet, so I made the most of the dry and partly sunny weather today and went walking in Sharon Woods. Both the birds and the squirrels seemed very skittish today, and I was nearing the end of my walk before this little sparrow was kind enough to stay still long enough for me to blip him! This evening the church hand bell choirs I play in were performing at Mason Christian Village retirement community. I had mentioned last week that our practice went really badly, so our director called for an extra rehearsal on Tuesday, which went better. Tonight we did OK, though there were a couple of places where one or two people got lost for a number of measures, including me on one occasion. I also played the wrong bell a couple of times. But I guess for the average listener most people wouldn't have noticed much amiss - they certainly seemed to enjoy it, and that's the main thing after all! It's quite a large community, ranging from cottages and apartments for those still fully independent to assisted living facilities, and they seem to have plenty of activities and performances going on all year round, but especially at this time of year. Afterwards we had a little surprise house-warming celebration for Ryan, a young man in one of our choirs who has just bought and moved into his first house - it was a nice way to round out the evening.
