moss

Walked up into Dollar Glen as the light was fading.  The lush green moss on the stones in the Dollar Burn and the branches caught my eye.  
There is an oft quoted bit of folk wisdom that moss grows on the Northern side of a tree so you can use it to navigate.  Guess what - it's not true.  The moss covered trees in this blip are facing South and they have moss all the way round.   Note to self:  next time take a compass....
