Workmanship

After finishing at the cafe, I went into the shop to cover. I was admiring this early 19th century verge pocket watch and marvelling at the balance cock inside. The cutting and piercing would have all been done by hand. There was a time when these watches were scrapped and the pierced balance cocks used for jewellery.
