Captured
My favorite memories in teaching now revolve around students sharing their many talents in class, and today offered a sweet moment. Twins Allyson (left) and Lauren (right) teamed with Katie to capture us all with incredibly sweet sound. I've been fortunate to listen to these three sing in my class the last two years. It was a terrifically satisfying class period, with a meaningful and heartfelt discussion over Life of Pi, and then this musical entertainment. The whole room was reverently silent for the song, and I smiled as I basked in the thought of how lucky we all were to hear this. The lyrics of Katie's last song, Sweet Isolation, were not lost on me either:
My sweet isolation is pulling me apart,
And I feel it most when it's after dark.
How did this happen, and why I don't know,
But I think I'm done here,
I want to come home.
