South Island…….

BACK BLIP
I’m a day late posting this - yesterday was an extra busy day with several exciting highlights.
We spent the day in Golden Bay, NZ, which is on the other side of the Takaka Hill and the first time the grandchildren have travelled to this area
Highlights included the following
- an inquisitive South Island Robin (NZ) entertained us while we ate our picnic lunch by the stream near the Pupu Powerhouse. They are a sparrow-sized bird found only in New Zealand.
- we visited the Waikoropupū (Pupu) Springs which are the largest freshwater springs in NZ. The water is amazing with its clarity and fascinated the children.
- a visit to the salmon farm was an extra thrill for the grandchildren as they caught their first ever fish. The reality of life and death was also covered.
- before returning home we all enjoyed a relaxing visit to pat the friendly Kunekune pigs next door, along with various birds and a white rabbit roaming freely in the grounds.
- two pristine peacock feathers were found and proudly brought home.
A hot sunny summer’s day - they are endless at the moment.
Many thanks for the comments and stars for Sophia and her new ladybird earrings - she is taking great care of her ears and they are healing well from the piecing.
