I Need To Pee

My Dear Princess & Dear Fellows,

If you are anything like me* you imagine Wellington's CBD as a square, criss-crossed inside by streets and lanes full of restaurants, coffee places, offices and shops.

Each side of the square is a rough demarcation point between these businesses and the houses and flats that surround the city centre.

The Terrace is one side of the square. It is a long road, that goes UP and DOWN like a rollercoaster when you are going along it. One street going off The Terrace is Aurora Terrace.

The reason I'm telling you all this is that there's a wee subway that goes under The Terrace and leads you almost directly onto Aurora. And "wee" is definitely the word for it. The sign next to the subway reads thus:

Kumutoto Stream
A soundscape imagining the experience of walking in the bush along Kumutoto Stream which still flows and carries marine life in pipes under this tunnel to Kumutoto Wharf.

Or in other words, the tunnel is FILLED with sound effects of rushing water. 

And it really should have a public convenience at either end of it, that's all I'm saying. Now, if you'll excuse me...

p.s. In other news, I watched Bird Box today and really enjoyed it. However, I expect if I tried to pee with a blindfold on I'd get in all sorts of trouble.

* If you're anything like me, then I'm sorry. I haven't had an easy time of it either.
