Shapes in Nature
I was awakened to the sound of rain pounding on the roof, rattling the windows and trickling through the open bedroom door. Although it only lasted about fifteen minutes, it was epic while it lasted. It took a lot longer than 15 minutes to mop the floor and by then the sun was shining, sprinkling the trees and shrubs with sparkling drops.
We didn't want to go too far afield since the skies could cloud over and the rain begin in a trice, so we just walked over to the creek where we have a nice view from the bridge. Although it is fair roaring, we've seen it much higher, probably because this is the first real gullywasher we've had this year. The majestic moss covered oak in Cindy's front lawn was looking especially magnificent and the lace lichen across the street took on a whole new form when wet.
I also expected to see more trees and branches down after two solid days of rain, but on our trip to Windsor for our first good workout of the season from Kathy, we saw very little emergency tree work and all the roads that are prone to flooding had drained sufficiently for us to drive through.
It seemed like a cozy thing to do so I made some cookies this afternoon....
