Getting ready for the launch

This is a view that won't be available for much longer.

It is the underside of the new hybrid ferry MV Hallaig which is being built at Ferguson's shipyard in Port Glasgow. I was visiting CMAL, which owns the assets of Cal Mac including ships and piers , and they took me to see the two new hybrids in various stages of construction.

This one - for the Raasay route - will be launched by Nicola Sturgeon a week on Monday. Unfortunately I can't be there, but it was good to get a sneak, unique, fishes eye view, preview of the vessel this morning.

The second is for the Portavadie / Tarbert route in my constituency and should be launched in April.
