One moment there were just the Jehovah's Witnesses man and woman with the racks of leaflets (see temporary extra) and by the time I had crossed the road it was pigeon mayhem. 

The chap with the pigeons on him didn't even have food for them. He was carrying a brown paper bag which unexpectedly split and some packs of fudge dropped to the ground. He picked them up and the birds obviously thought they might get a share. His friends then encouraged him to pose for photos.
