A time for everything

American white ibis

Saturday
I got up early to enjoy a last sunrise walk on the beach, before beginning our journey home later in the day. Besides the beautiful sunrise (shown as an extra), I was treated to the sight near the fishing pier of a group of Willets, and this little cluster of White ibis, nicely accented by the rising sun. I probably spent a bit longer out than I should have done, as I was then rushing against the clock at the last minute to be out of the cottage by 10 am! We were invited over to our friends Jan and Steve for a lunchtime barbecue with their whole family, Andy having flown in on Thursday, and Sean and family visiting for the day with some of their friends. As we were standing on the beach chatting, a dolphin came to play in the shallow water, and say goodbye! We had seen them in our first few days, but then hadn’t seen them for the last week. We left them about 2.30 and headed over to Philip’s to say goodbye - he was unfortunately working until 3. Then we reluctantly had to start heading north, as far as Valdosta, just into Georgia for that night.
