Corvettes and More Corvettes

The van saga continues. The dealership diagnosed my vehicle, and narrowed it down to a part in the transmission. Good news, huh? Well, no. The part has to come from St. Louis, Missouri, which is 300 miles away. We hope that the part comes in tomorrow on the 10 a.m. truck.

So, it's another night in the Holiday Inn. We did take off today and went to the Corvette Museum.

A couple of notes on the Corvette collage. In the lower left, that's Lisa and I in front of a giant collage...thousands of pictures put together to form the white Corvette. And, about the picture in the lower right...

This part of Kentucky is cave country, with pockets of limestone everywhere. In February of 2014, a sinkhole that measured 40 feet wide, and 25 feet deep opened up inside the museum, and "swallowed" 8 vintage Corvettes. Luckily, it happened at 5:38 a.m., so nobody was injured. But, as you can maybe see...6 of the 8 Corvettes were really mangled. (I think it's funny that the museum decided to use the cars as part of the exhibit. They even left a window in the concrete of the floor to let you see how deep the sinkhole was.) They shored up the area of the sinkhole, but it still gives you a funny feeling walking around the place.

Here's hoping that the part shows up tomorrow. (Winter storm Gia is really messing up the Midwest.)
