Old haunts
After breakfast Shelagh and I took her dog for a lovely, bright, sunny walk along part of the coastal path. Icy and muddy under foot, but wonderful to hear and see the waves, and be out in the sea air.
We followed this with a visit to the estate where Shelagh's late husband was head gardener, and where they lived all their married life. Consequently I know the place well, and it brought back lovely, happy memories being there.
We had been invited for morning coffee in the big house. It was a treat and very enjoyable, and were able to look around the garden afterwards.
The rest of the day I mostly spent knitting a special order of socks, in the company of two cats and a dog, Shelagh between her piano lessons and her visiting daughter, who makes excellent Eggs Benedict with hot smoked salmon!
This is proving to be a wonderful holiday!
