St Catherine’s church

Visited the Shepherds’ field where apparently the angel announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds.
Then visited Herodian, Herod’s fortress and palace in the Judean desert ( not much of that left, the Jews hated him and smashed it up!)
Then back to Bethlehem to the Church of the Holy Nativity on the site where Jesus was reputed to have been born. I had forgotten how crowded and production line it could get. No time for contemplation.
It’s been a cold day and they are forecasting snow for tomorrow. However, we are leaving so shouldn’t be affected.
