A bit of colour
Another dull day but we decided to go out for a drive .We stopped at the Spud hut to get some fresh vegetables. The little Croft’s near it are being renovated and are now just a shell so it will be interesting to see them develop. I do have a few photos of them a few years ago (PL have you got any ?) .
We looked in the Farm shop near Beauly and admired the Highland cows and alpacas .
On to Beauly to get some soup and pork pies for lunch and dinner.
We drove down some of the back roads which took us up into the hills with great views over the Beauly River and Firth. We stopped in a lay by and had our soup.
The road brought us out near the Kilmorak Gallery so we went in for a look. Some wonderful pieces of art by artists from around Scotland including some metal sculptures by Andrea Geilie https://andreageile.co.uk/about/.
There were two metal wild goats on the stone wall outside and a Giant lizard on the front of the building created by Helen Denerley who also made the two giraffes ,Dreaming Spires , that can be seen in Edinburgh .
The building in it’s own right is interesting , an old parish church ( 1786) with lovely stained glass windows and a gallery area.A wonderful wood burner with comfortable , old torn leather chairs greet you as you walk in.
Outside I noticed this water fountain with the date 1919 so now 100 years old.Snowdrops had started to bloom near the sheltered wall, early for up here.
