A Beast of a beer!

I should have waited until tomorrow night, but I'm thirsty and have no willpower.

I remember drinking "Old Thumper" as a young man in a real country pub in the Meon Valley in Hampshire - straight out of the barrel at the bar.. head like old dishwater. The pub had a wall with a gutter out back for the blokes and no ladies toilet at all. 30 years on and it's probably a poncy gastro-pub full of snobs now, but back then it was the real deal and the ale was pure nectar.

There was another pub near Arborfield called the "Shit and Shovel" until the council forced them to change their name to the George and Dragon .. sodding bureaucrats. Mind you, there's probably plenty of folk call me worse now I work for the council and don't always give them the answer they want :-(
