Narcissus

A symbol of joy and hope. but in Medieval times it was believed to be a bad omen if it drooped when you looked at it. Always make sure you give a bunch to someone  as giving a single one brings misfortune. They don't seem to know this in the Scilly Isles as narcissi are used as a form of payment and one is given to Prince Charles each year to cover rent for any unattended land !  I didn't know he was their landlord and apparently they are angry at the moment as he is branching out into the holiday home business. One, 2 bed,cottage previously used by locals has been renovated and is rented out at £1,500 per week.
