Wild out East 1
Just back from a wild couple of days out East. Having met my PhD student in the English Market In Cork (very nice woman, much holy well discussion and a lot of giggles) we then went on to Cobh which is just east of the city. It's a fascinating and colourful place famous for its Gothick Cathedral (St Coleman's seen in the background), it's links with the Titanic (last port of call) and as the place where the survivors of the Lusitania disaster were brought (many of those who drowned are also buried here). Cobh out of season is an odd place - it looked lovely in the warm evening light but not a lot was happening and we wondered if we'd find somewhere to eat. We did. Our airbnb was lovely, an old Dairy spruced up and modernised and very comfy.
In this pic you can see the cathedral and the rather odd statue of man looking remarkably like he is in a bath, is called the Navigator.
