I wish...

I could have taken a video clip of the yogalates class today - the exercises concentrated on - shall we say - the lower half of the body and the groans and moans would have made any observer wonder why on earth we were putting ourselves through that torture! Although you don't even break into a sweat this is the hardest class of the week, and the one that passes the quickest too. Sad to say can't show that, so on a terrible rainy day that made any outdoor blips impossible here you have some of the wool that is spun at New Lanark.

Although these were historically cotton spinning mills, it was realised that there would be no market for expensively produced cotton products. The spinning method is similar to watch, so historic wool spinning machinery was sourced from mills in the Borders and now the Visitor Centre has a thriving business as well as letting visitors see working machinery.

Raw wool is carded on machines that can be seen behind glass in the Gift Shop, and then spun on the mules in the Visitor Centre. It is then dyed and made into different weights of yarn for hand knitting as well as into scarves and blankets.

aquafit with Iain tonight. I was doing my yesterday's volunteering this morning, so that will be three trips down to New Lanark today. I did try a few other artistic shots, but wasn't happy with any of them. The wool will have to do today.
