THE BEAUTIFUL MORNING

called me outside and although I prepared for a nice bike-tour I remembered that I yesterday on my way back had seen the geese flying towards a person whom they expected to have food for them. This was not me, but it gave me an idea.
So I stopped first on that spot, but the geese simply were not there. But I know of course where they live and I cycled not far from there to find them. And I did and I spent an amazing time with them. They loved the food (they did not fly to me because they were nearby) and the ducks and coots ate as well.
Then I saw how they first slowly oh so slowly drifted on the water, but once in a while some chased (I think without reason) the others. A spectacular sight because of all the water they moved in the air.
Then they began to wash themselves in the sunlight that appeared from behind the houses. I would have liked to show how they went completely under water, sometimes feet up and after their bath they stretching their feathers, but no a film would give a good impression of that.. There are many geese and I tried to focus upon the different places where they washed.
So I cycled not far but after drinking coffee at home went with Piet Hein to the sea for a short walk. Windy, cold and rain or snow still hidden in the clouds.

My haiku:

To die in the sea
In the very cold water
What terrible fate

Thinking of the seamen that drowned after the shipwreck near Hoek of Holland.

And the proverb by Shakespeare:

As flies to wanton boys are we to the gods.
