The First Adult of the Season!

I was very surprised to come across this adult praying mantis. Most of the nymphs I see are around the third instar, but this one has raced through to the sixth. Mind you, it is in the greenhouse, which gives it an advantage. No rain or strong winds to deal with, and plenty of small flies trapped against the polythene.

The light was rather poor for photos as I have white frost cloth lining the tunnel to protect the tomato leaves from the fierce sunshine.
