Bookworms

I think dry January has hit Saltaire it was so quiet in Fanny's this evening. Despite that, there was a normally closed door open off the upstairs room where we normally sit, into a room which has been done out just perfectly for our book group. There was just the right size oval table, comfy chairs and wallpaper covered in books.

Stef Penney's Under The Pole Star certainly gave us a lot to talk about, and whilst we mostly like the characters and the plot, we all agreed there was way too much sex for a book based on polar explorers. The writer said in an interview that she didn't want to leave it to the readers imagination and she certainly achieved that...
