Bee Tree
It's hard to get this tree pictured. It's the Bee Tree, a giant oak right below the tiny house. The old owner of this place, way back in the 50s, used to raid the hollow of the tree for the honey that the wild bees deposited there. If you look closely you can see the 2x4 lengths nailed as steps to the side of the trunk many years ago. Half of the tree split and fell 40 to 50 years ago, but still the majority of the tree stands. Here was my thought as I took a much needed walk over the hillside today: The Bee Tree did not care that we chased a basketball all over the state the last two days, the last month and a half. The Bee Tree, what's left of it, stood in the cold gray January and focused on just standing; the Bee Tree trunk that had fallen years ago, committed itself to the forest floor. That's how life works on the hillside.
