Theofania & Agiasmos

Today all priests in Greece bless the seas, the harbours, the waters (Agiasmos) and they cast the Christian Cross into the waters what triggers the young and strong men... and the odd girl! to dive into the waters and catch that cross! The one who catches it is rewarded Hero for the year and receives a gift from the priest ~  often a golden cross pendant.
