Lean on Love
Just south of Christchurch is the CookieTime factory. They make large individual cookies, and tiny ones they especially make for Christmas. I have driven by so many times, but today we decided to stop and get some supplies for lunches, camping, etc.
This sculpture is near the door, and signifies a child leaning on a fragile flower for love and reassurance. It is intended to symbolize the strength and importance of the most simple things around us. There is a mutual nurturing respect that allows both to flourish in harmony.
The sculpture was made by Mackenzie Thorpe who is an internationally renown artist, who struggled with dyslexia throughout his childhood, and found strength in painting and drawing. His works express a complete range of human emotions.
The beauty of this piece lies in its simplicity. I thought it was beautiful and just had to share it.
