A Slice of the Ice

Into the guts of the state park...
the 3 of us did cavort.
Merrick threw branches into the ice,
and all of us went in the fort.

Look at the size of that fort! Somebody spent a lot of time making it. While Merrick was impressed by the fort...the ice was waiting. With the mild weather we've been having, the ice isn't even a quarter inch thick, so it broke up quite easily. With the help of a couple of sticks, Merrick harvested a few pieces of the cold stuff.

This week in Michigan, we've lost two people who went out on some ice that wasn't thick enough, so it did give us a chance to talk to Merrick about venturing out onto frozen lakes.
