New FriendsL
A day ashore in Wellington, capitol ofNew Zealand. Having read The Lord Of The Rings many years ago it was an easy decision when we visited Wellington to go on a tour visiting many of the places where filming took place. The bus tour initially seemed very simple, but quickly became more complex. Our driver and guide after arriving in New Zealand from England worked for many months as a double on the Hobbit movie. After finishing his work on the movie he worked for many years with production company called WETA. The company was responsible for development for many movies in the area of pre production/ production and post production. It was simply amazing having watched such films then seeing the technology that them such a world wide success, simply amazing. Having set your appetite, I can’t show you a single shot of the production technology because each of the many films have a signed confidentiality agreement, no photos, videos of recording of any technology used in the film. However outside the WETA facility my wife found a new friend called Gollen as shown in today’s blip.
Extra photo, shows a view from Mt Victoria of Wellington harbour and city. As the area was originally colonised by the British, understandably the majority of the street and area names are of English origin. The original settlers, many hundreds of years before the Europeans were the Maori people. As the federal capitol, the city has recognised the Mauri culture and included in brackets the indigenous meaning for the place. Photo two is day 20, sunset over the southern ocean at Ceduna. Hope you have a great day!
