Kilbowie PS pupils having fun at the exhibition...

P7 from Kilbowie PS, West Dunbartonshire visited the exhibition today. The photo shows the last of the pupils leaving. Their bus had been waiting a while for them.

It's been quite a week for the pupils, on their Wyllie quest.

On Monday, Sam and Ciara were at the Mitchell to explain some of the exhibits to Mr Russell when he visited the exhibition.

Today, the Clydebank Post reported on the work the pupils have been doing - finding about about George Wyllie's work and creating their own and the paper also had comments from local MSP, Gil Paterson, who visited the children to hear all about it.

The pupils were very excited about today's visit and incredibly enthusiastic.

Some groups did a workshop on poetry, similar to a lesson George Wyllie had taught many years ago, closing their eyes and picking words at random from his 'Paper Boat Song' and then trying to make a sentence including the words, and then a poem including the sentences.

They all tried to find a sculpture which included something about Robert Burns, a shortbread tin survival kit, with a wee mouse in it, and they then went down low to see how the exhibition would look from a mouse's point of view, another part of a lesson George Wyllie once taught about seeing things from different points of view.

They tried to find every question mark in the exhibition... 57 and counting.

And the pupils watched a video about George Wyllie, interested to hear his views in his own words, and to see him. Then they made their own video and audio recordings...

"...I'd like to come here again, because it's fun."

"... I liked the football boots, because they're gold and they're called 'Twinkle Toes' which is funny."

"...Today, I enjoyed it so much, and I wish I could come back here."

"...My favourite thing is the 'Slap and Tickle Machine' because it's fun and cool."

To get the full impression of this last comment, you'd really have to see the video and see the very happy wee face that goes along with it...
