The Coalbrookdale Fountain - not!
The refurbishment of the Park continues. I've been wanting to get a record shot of the foundations of the soon to be re-introduced
Coalbrookdale Fountain. The problem was how to make a heap of soil and gravel remotely interesting. As I was walking through today there seemed to be a bit of activity as well as strong sunshine and shadows, so decided to go with this.
The re-introduction of the Coalbrookdale fountain will have been a painstaking task involving the 'cloning' of the fountain in Lurgan park, Norther Ireland's second biggest public park.
Expert engineers from a Scottish restoration company first took a 3D copy of the fountain, so that a replica could be made for a new fountain for the Park in Wigan. The original fountain in Mesnes Park was demolished in 1926, and was very similar to the one in Lurgan Park. Coalbrookdale no longer manufacture fountains so by mapping out Lurgan's fountain an exact clone has been made. I look forward to blipping the finished job sometime in the New Year : )
This is what it will look like.
