Scooter culture
Scooters are a very popular form of transport in Bali. It is not unusal to see a family of 4 plus shopping or one man laden down with goods weaving in and out of the traffic. It is illegal not to wear a helmet. Despite this you would see many people without helmets (as in this photo) or sometimes only the parents wearing them.
I have little or no experince of driving a scooter, but from what I know of cycling it is advisable to look where you are going, to hold on and steer rather than delegating the task to a child who is probably more interested in munching a biscuit. I am pretty sure this was not just a reaction to the presence of my camera.
No accident was caused in the making of this blip.
This was our last day in Bali. In the afternoon we flew back to the Northern Hemisphere to spend a few more hours in Kuala Lumpur airport waiting for another plane.
