Stourport Canal System and River Severn

A whizz up to Worcestershire today to have lunch with my niece, great-nieces and my nephew, his wife and my sister and brother in law, as my niece has had her home extended so she was pleased to have everyone there.
After lunch we walked into Stourport-on-Severn, to the canal basin and along the River Severn. Stourport wouldn’t have developed as it is if James Brindley hadn’t chosen to bring the ‘stinking ditch’ there rather than Bewdley in 1771 so Stourport is the only town to have developed because of the canals .

Sad to leave everyone but my sister is moving soon so will probably be back up before too long to help .
